Ringo's Nasal Honk

Tim Riley, on the transition between the Revolver tracks "Here, There, and Everywhere" and "Yellow Submarine":


From the grace of Paul's tenor to the nasal honk of Ringo's throaty baritone is a leap only the Beatles could make successfully, and the comic relief of "Yellow Submarine" adds to Ringo's playful appeal even on the heels of one of Paul's finer moments. (Tim Riley, Tell Me Why, p. 187)


I will never be able to hear this song, or any Ringo song for that matter, without the phrase "nasal honk" springing immediately to mind. Ah, Ringo ...
